About Loudoun County
Located in the northwest part of the Washington, DC, metro area, Loudoun is a microcosm of the Commonwealth of Virginia. There are areas of more densely populated communities, to the east, as well as more sparsely populated areas featuring rolling countryside, horse farms, vineyards and small towns. This combination gives residents many lifestyle choices along with steady, but managed growth, low unemployment, and world-class schools. Of particular pride in Loudoun are the historic villages and towns that maintain vintage charm. Like Virginia, Loudoun has a rich legacy dating back to our Nation’s colonial period.
Loudoun, founded in 1757, has grown from mostly rural sleepy farmland. The county now includes many beautiful neighborhoods and planned communities and is home to numerous regional and international businesses that make up the Dulles Technology Corridor. Loudoun offers superb, locally produced food and wines, with western Loudoun known as “D.C.’s Wine Country”.
